How to schedule a drug test in Massachusetts

However, you must complete the donor information section and pay for the test at the time of registration.

State of Massachusetts Drug Testing News
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Massachusetts ranked among the top ten states with the highest rates of drug overdose deaths involving opioids. In 2017, there were 1,913 drug overdose deaths involving opioids —a rate of 28.2 deaths per 100,000 persons, which is twofold higher than the national rate of 14.6 deaths per 100,000 persons. The greatest increase in opioid deaths was seen in cases involving synthetic opioids (mainly fentanyl): a rise from 67 deaths in 2012 to 1,649 deaths in 2017. Deaths involving prescription opioids totaled 321 in 2017 and have remained steady since 2015. Heroin involved deaths decreased 25 percent over the past 2-years with a total of 466 deaths in 2017.
Research also revealed that in 2017, Massachusetts had one of the lowest opioid prescribing rates in the United States. Providers wrote 40.1 opioid prescriptions for every 100 persons, compared to the average U.S. rate of 58.7 prescriptions. While the rate of overdose deaths involving opioid prescriptions is among the lowest in the nation, the rate has seen an overall upward trend since 1999. In the past year, however, the rate saw a soft decline to 4.6 deaths per 100,000 persons. Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) or neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS) may occur when a pregnant woman uses drugs such as opioids during pregnancy. According to the Massachusetts NAS dashboard, in 2015, the rate of NAS/NOWS in Massachusetts was about 14.5 cases per 1,000 hospital births.

In the state of Massachusetts, medical marijuana is legal for qualifying patients who are 18 years or older with a certain debilitating medical conditions allowing them to use and possess marijuana as long as they have a medical card. These conditions qualifying are Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Cancer, Crohn’s disease, Glaucoma, HIV or AIDS, Hepatitis C, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and other conditions as determined in writing by a qualifying patient’s physician. Individual patients will be permitted to designate a “personal caregiver” at least 21 years old to cultivate for them if they are unable to access a state-authorized dispensary or if they can verify “financial hardship.”According to the Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services, there are an estimated amount of 50,353 registers patients.
In the state of Massachusetts, recreational marijuana is legal for individuals who are 21 years and older; however, marijuana cannot be used in public or on federal land. Citizens can have up to one ounce on them and ten ounces in their home. An individual can grow up to 6 plants in their own and up to 12 plants for two or more adults. Having anything more than an ounce in the house, has to be locked away to keep away from kids and pets. Even though marijuana is legal in the state, employers, landlords, cities, and towns may have their own policies about the use of marijuana. In 2018, the Cannabis Control Commission authorized two dispensaries to begin selling recreational marijuana; however, currently there are 15 dispensaries opened. Marijuana will be more expensive for recreational user than for those who hold a medical card because they will have a to pay a total of 17 percent in state sales taxes and up to 3 percent in local taxes. Also, recreational user will have to pay in cash instead of using a debit or credit card.
